Elitism, its the attitude, the 'pride/conscience people from 'the better schools' have about themselves. Maybe, just maybe, if those students in 'the not so good schools' decided to work much much harder, as much as the elite students do, maybe they will be just as accomplished. maybe it is because these elite students are so caught up with being the cream of the crop, they do not realise that amidst all the efforts they put in to get good results, they neglect the other aspects of life. Maybe that is why many very elite students sometimes complain that others, who are not as elite, compared to them, can get the job in society while they cannot. Those not so elite, though do not invest on their time on those very thick books, they, on the other hand, get to do a lot of hands on work, thus gaining experience, in which that is what most companies probably look for after looking at our paper qualifications. Maybe amidst all the elite students' complains about how their life sucks like crazy, they do not realise that this is actually what they brought upon themselves, to choose to be regarded as the people with potential because they are the elite, they are the special ones who can achieve way more. I'm not implying that no prodigy exist but it needs to be accompanied with hardwork.
I think that the not so elite students are not so caught up with whether they're top in school, but they just want to have serious fun, as in seriously, they engage themselves in the things that they have to do, but in a fun way. They find ways around a boring responsibility of theirs and bring the best out of it. Maybe, this is the kind of attitude elite students ought to adopt, this is the attitude that allows this elite students to actually really bring forth their full potential, when it is accompanied with serious fun, passion, hardwork. The fact that elite students are usually complaining about workload, how life is just so terrible, simply proves the point that they have not found much joy in what they are doing. Maybe some day. but the bulk of them most probably dont, even if they seem like it. Its all about wanting people to perceive them in the 'right way' rather than the weakest link of the elite.
The elite always want to be different, want to be the outstanding people. However, we realise that maybe most of the time those that stand out are those that made a great improvement in their lives or to the lives of others. in other words, they serve with a heart, they put others before self. They find meaning behind their actions, they know more about what they want, rather than just study study and study even more. If we have no purpose, how do we contribute back to society, make a change that will be beneficial to society if we are so caught up with studies and not bothered about the happenings of the society? Maybe the elite ought to take some time to stop and reflect, reflect on their direction, whether they are doing things for themselves or for others, are they loving the life they live. To be outstanding, you ought to be yourself, enjoy your life to the fullest, that way, people see your true self, you never need to worry about putting on a fake front, trying to please people. To make a difference, you dont need to be an elite, all you need is a dream, some creativity and determination to carry out your dream until it turns into reality to benefit this society.
